Dim Sum at Kepong

If you are looking for breakfast, or some midnight snacks, drop by at FuL Lai Dim Sum, Bandar Sri Menjarala.

Like other Dim Sum restaurants, Ful Lai serves various types of dim sum, just that the ingredients are fresher than those I had in Jalan Ipoh.

Janet and I went likes to enjoy our supper there, usually we order dim sum like "ha kau" (prawn dumpling) , "siew mai" (another kind of dumpling...), chee cheong fun, egg tart and etc... (yea I eat a lot)

Hong Kong "chee cheong fun" with prawn
This chee cheong fun has a gummy texture and in within you will taste real fresh and teeth bouncy shrimps.

Egg Tart
This tart has a crumble skin. The heavy butter taste makes it a little like butter cookies, just that it's added with an egg fillings.

Glutinous rice wrapped with lotus leaf
Our favorite! This sticky rice taste so great that we ordered it every time we are there. The aroma of Chinese sausage really strikes my taste bud. While bitting on the juicy sticky rice, you will taste some dried oyster in it as well. A must order dish!

Lots of Dim Sum

Fried Yam Cake with minced pork fillings
The crust simply makes this cuisine nice! Just a little bit oily...

LO MAI KAI!
The classic old dim sum every one knows. In case you don't, this is a steamed glutinous rice with chicken. Nice serve with chili sauce.

A price list for your reference
Well, as you see the price are reasonable.

Ristorante Italiano Italia Mia (Sunway Ipoh)

First time in my life, I tasted real Italian food, and I don't have to be in Italy!

Located at Sunway City Ipoh, I found Italia Mia, a true restaurant run by a lovely Italian, Tino. After mom and I are seated, Tino start to assist us to make orders. With a strong Italian accent, he introduce us to a few signature dish: Baked lamb rack with parsley and spice, Le Cordon Bleu, and a grill sirloin steak.

'Ristorante'

The environment make us really comfortable being there. Tino is trully an Italiano, while doing his work he sings along just like a bird, enjoying every moment in his life. We felt really warm and welcomed.

Yes, they serve wine...

A lot of memorable

The 1st dish served was cordon bleu. I believe everyone knows this dish is cook with ham slice rolled with chicken breast and fried with dredged egg coating. What makes Italia Mia's "blue ribbon" special is the cheese they are using. I'm not sure what kind of cheese they are using, but one thing I can tell you is the rammish taste of it makes a true combination.

The Blue Ribbon

While savoring 'the bleu', the lamb rack make its way to the table. Being a lamb lover, quickly I grabbed a stick. It's a little dry but the meat texture is so soft. All the spice taste concentrated on the outside, still maintain the sweetness of the lamb in the inside. With a little dip on the mint jam, the whole dish is perfect!

You may keep the bone as souvenir :)

Moo~! And here comes the sirloin steak. The steak is served with grilled mushrooms on top, served with a special sauce. Tender, juicy, and spicy is all I can say about this grilled steal. For beef eaters, you don't want to miss this, trust me!

Pity the cow...

Both of us ended the lunch with dessert, tiramisu and chocolate mousse. (Yes, we really can eat!) For everything, the damage is almost RM 200.

TINO, I WILL BE BACK!

Otak-otak Place (One Utama)

Would you believe simple food like otak-otak (Traditional Malaysian Fish Mousse) can be serve in various dishes? Well I found a place that can. Located in one Utama shopping mall, i found this lovely restaurant named OTAK-OTAK PLACE.

A big grandpa bicycle

Walking into this place, I was incredibly surprise with the theme they are using. It's traditional baba and nonya style with modern elements! At the main counter I saw some of my childhood favorite tidbits,  Apollo wafer biscuits and lots more, all placed in big jars up for sale. On the other side, they have a rack of merchandise for sale, from grandpa bicycle figures to beanbags that I used to play 10 years back... At the wall cabinet inside, there's bunch of old stuffs there... Brought back a lot of my sweet memories.

After putting in our orders (of course my dear girlfriend Janet is with me), we saw some of the kids were playing with something... Guess what, they have prepared some toys for children in case they make trouble! Remember the card game to group up different families, or the metal carbonated drinks cover? The boss is really a collector!

We ordered MEE BANDUNG, AYAM PERCHIK WITH NASI LEMAK, STEAMED OTAK-OTAK, OTAK OTAK DUMPLING AND A CUP OF TEH TARIK. The taste, delicious! It's not the Malay cuisine that we can get daily!

Steamed otak-otak: soft with a little bouncy, spicy but not hot, a must order dish.

Otak-otak dumplings (5 pieces): Get out of the box and taste something new!

Mee Bandung Muar: Smells like curry, but taste like others. No word can describe, check it out!

Ayam Perchik with Nasi Lemak: The chicken is so tender and tasty! The hot rice add another mark for it!

Believe it or not, for what we ordered, it only cost RM 29.19. It,s cheap cheap and cheap!
